Non-CEU Educational Training Classes
For Real Estate Brokers, Agents, REALTORS® and Business Partners
Part of our business goal has always been to educate our business partners and clients in order to help facilitate successful real estate transactions. To help us achieve this goal we conduct a series of educational classes or “mini-seminars.” The seminars are presented by an experienced Real Estate Attorney from our office. The seminars are small and informal meetings that cover topics that are pertinent and of interest to our business partners and real estate clients. The classes do not provide the requisite MA Board of Registration of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons continuing education units.
These seminars are held at any convenient location, your office or ours, and run from an hour to 90 minutes long. They are usually held at lunch time or in place of a weekly office meeting. The size of the seminars can be from 1 to 20 people. The seminar topics include:
Title Concerns and Title Insurance
This class will discuss common title concerns and how they may affect your transaction. Knowing what a title defect is and how it is resolved will give you a better understanding about how to guide your clients when title issues arise. You will also learn more about the importance of title insurance.
The Basics of Foreclosure
Foreclosure is a complicated and time-consuming process. Knowing the basics of the foreclosure process and how it may affect your client’s real estate transaction can make you a valuable resource.
What sellers need to know about the legal process
Sellers do not always fully understand the legal aspects of a real estate closing. This class will address many of the common issues that confuse sellers during the process, and it will help you to help them avoid the confusion, before it becomes a problem.
Understanding the New CFPB changes and requirements
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau rules and regulations governing real estate transactions are complex and evolving. This class will discuss many of the recent changes and how they affect your buyers and sellers. A clear review of the newest CDF will be provided.
Behind Real Estate Closing Services (“Closings 101”)
This class will shed some light on what goes on behind the scenes during the process of preparing for a real estate closing. Have you ever wondered what happens after the P&S is signed and title work begins? We will explore just what happens in the settlement agent’s (Closing Attorney’s) office once they receive the “title order” from the buyer’s mortgage lender.
Current Topics in Real Estate
This class is always new and changing. The topic is chosen by the current times and trends in real estate. In the past the class has addressed changes in the Mass. smoke detector laws, oil line compliance, HUD1 vs. CD, electronic document recording, notary public laws, cyber security and many more.
Understanding Deeds, Mortgages and Real Estate Titles
This class examines real estate closing legal documents and how they affect title. Mortgages, deeds and liens are discussed in detail. As well as other issues that are looked at during a title exam.
Cyber crimes and real estate transactions
This class explores how cyber criminals affect real estate transactions. With such large amounts of money on the line, real estate transactions are a ripe target of unscrupulous cyber criminals. Learn first hand about some of the common techniques and tricks being employed to rip off buyers, sellers, attorneys, and agents. The class will discuss first hand examples of cyber crimes in the real estate transaction.
Understanding the Short Sale Process
Short sales are not a thing of the past and they can still adversely affect your clients purchase or sale. This class will help you understand just what a short sale is and the suttelties that make the concept of short sale such a nightmare for many. You will also learn ways to address issues that may arise during the short sale process and how you can help your buyer and seller clients.
