Massachusetts Homestead Law. The Massachusetts Homestead Act was ammended in March of 2011 and now provides automatic Homestead protection on all primary resiences. The Homestead law protects the equity of a person's primary residence up $125,000.00 from civil attachment. The amount of equity protection can be increased to $500,000.00 by filing a written Deceleration of Homestead with the county registry of deeds for $35.00.
